The ONLY thing wrong with WordPress Stats

Unfortunately for WordPress geeks, WordPress.com Stats is set up to cycle through to the next day on UTC time.  This is great, because it helps wp-stats remain fast, according to the developer (although I don’t understand how), but also is a problem, because the new “day” for my WordPress.com Stats starts at about 6:00 PM.

So those who hit my blog after 6PM, MST, are going to be attributed to the next day’s stats.  Lame.  I can’t complain too much, though, because the plugin is incredible, otherwise.  Great plugin, lame glitch.

By keeping everyone on UTC, we reduce our data storage requirements, the complexity of the presentation logic, and the number of settings. It’s a trade-off. We do want to add the ability to shift your time zone and maybe even hourly stats but it has not been planned.

p.s. The plugin tag and url is just “stats”, not “wp-stats”. 🙂

  3. Good catch and thanks. I updated the tag (and some of the post) to correctly reflect your plugins’ proper name. Glad you visited!
