Dr Pepper owes me

without comments

Just walked down to the cafeteria to get a drink.  I walked over to the cooler where the Dr Peppers live.  There was a 40-ish guy, standing there, like he didn’t know what drink to select.  I walked up, grabbed a can of Dr Pepper and said “Can I recommend the Dr Pepper?”, then strode away.  About 30 seconds later, as I was paying for my can of pure joy, the man in the suit queued up behind me with his can of Dr Pepper and told me that he hadn’t had one “in years”.  You’re welcome, Dallas.

The last can

with 2 comments

image1829449690.jpgWell, the deal is on.  Tonight, I had my last Dr. Pepper (end date of this fast is TBD) and am now off of carbonation.  The purpose of this is to help me become a better runner (at least that’s MY purpose).

So I’m off the sauce.

Wish me (and Patrick, the other quitter) luck.  The last time I did this, I went for about a month and a half without it.  I’m not sure how long I’ll go, but I’m sure I’ll keep this blog informed.

Let the headaches begin…

The “Classic” mistake of 1985

without comments

In 1985, The Coca-cola company changed Coke’s recipe. Fans hated it, so Coke changed it’s formula back and renamed the drink “Coca-cola Classic”. Now they are dropping the word “classic” from its labels. Que the Facebook group protests.  This is why I drink a much better beverage.

Kicking the Dr…

without comments

So Patrick and I have made a little pact, wherein we have stopped drinking soda for a while.  I just now finished my last DP.  So now I’m going to get a water and try to get used to it.  I’ve been drinking about 5-8 DP’s a day.  Really not very smart.  So maybe this is the kick that I need to quit for a while.

In other news, I ran two miles, today and feel pretty sore.
