Apple’s WWDC (what strikes me as important)

Snow Leopard

Exchange support with Snow Leopard! Woo hoo! (requires Exchange 2007)

Track pad will now accept Chinese characters. Very interesting.

Quicktime will get http streaming, which will be helpful.

29 bucks for Snow Leopard! Nice! I can even handle that.

iPhone 3.0 Update (this is what I’m most interested in)

Can now cut/copy/paste between apps (it’s about time). You shake the phone to undo it.

Landscape for all “key” apps.

MMS (also: it’s about time). Uses the same app as messaging. ATT won’t support it until later this summer. Lame lame lame.

Spotlight for the iPhone.

Tethering though USB or Bluetooth. ATT not allowing tethering. Awesome. You guys suck.

“Find my iPhone”: Only available to MobileMe customers. Geez… Allows for remote wipe, if it’s really gone.

TomTom: App available this summer. Turn by turn (voice), portrait or landscape.

3.0 available June 17.

New iPhone, 3GS (‘S’ is for “speed”)

Loads apps 2-3 times faster (good, good. What else?)

New camera: 3.0 MP autofocus camera, tap to focus, low light features, video capture (yay)

Voice control for voice dialing

Digital Compass

Nike + support!!! This one’s for me.

Hardware encryption for businesses (Oh, thank goodness)

Better battery life: (Also thank goodness)

Copy and paste coming to iPhone 3.0…finally

without comments

Was just announced at Apple’s iPhone OS 3.0 event.  Copy and paste will work across all apps.

Also coming:  MMS (hold that thought:  Maybe not.)  Yay.  Why am I even exited about this?  Seems like getting exited about the wheel, fire, or mud huts.  Took long enough, guys.  Ok, MMS is confirmed.  Rejoice.

Mail and Notes is getting Landscape mode.  Also yay.

That’s all I’ve got.

XGPS 1.2 is out!

without comments

Turn by turn voice directions for the iPhone are here, in the embodiment of XGPS 1.2.  Grab it while you can (just kidding; I’m sure it’s not going to dissapear).

I’ll test it and report on it, ASAP.

Great launcher for iPhone

without comments

Quickgold is what I’ve been using for a year or so.  Very handy.  Unfortunately, it adds about 15 seconds lag time from when you restart your iPhone, to the point when you can actually put in your 4 digit pin to enter the iPhone.
